Fatmata Bintu Kanu
Fatmata Bintu Kanu(MRS) is a Sierra Leonean citizen living in Freetown, Sierra Leone’s capital. She has a Master’s (MA) Degree in Descriptive and Applied Linguistics – from Njala University and a Bachelor of Arts Degree (BA) in Linguistics – from Fourah Bay College.
Her major focus is to combat the educational challenges in Sierra Leone by building and improving the technical skills of Teachers and Teacher educators in Teacher Training Institutions (TTIs) through the implementation of educational programs to re-write the story of education.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Fatmata Bintu Kanu (MRS) is a trained and qualified Reading Coach with verse knowledge in classroom development skills, monitoring mentoring of educational skills. She is presently working with The Association of Language and Literacy Educators-Reading Sierra Leone (TALLE-RSL) in different capacities:
- She was a certified Lead Trainer in 2017 on pedagogical and cooperative teaching and learning classroom best practices. She is a reading coach and an educational consultant.
- In 2017, she served in the capacity of District Supervisor for the Revitalizing Education in Sierra Leone (REDiSL)
- In addition, in 2018, she served as Network Leader in the Result in Education for All Children (REACH) project in Bo District.
- Served as a Procurement Officer.
- She was a District Coordinator – at Port Loko, the Transforming Girls Education Project (TGEP) that spans from 2020-Present.
- She is now the Education and Gender Officer for the Teaching and Learning in Fragile Contexts (TLFC).
