TALLE-Reading Sierra Leone Participates in the 13th Biennial Pan-African Literacy For All (PALFA) Conference held in Nairobi, Kenya-23th-25th August 2023.

TALLE-RSL’s commitment to working with Education Stakeholders Globally in promoting Sustainable quality education for the well-being of Our Children’s Future has been acknowledged and confirmed membership status by global Literacy organisations such as PALFA and ILA. With this recognition, one TALLE-RSL young researcher, Fatmata Bintu Kanu (TALLE-RSL Gender and Education Officer), who has been researching ” The Impact of Teaching and Learning of Foundational Literacy Skills at the Early Childhood Development Schools” was awarded a research scholarship by sponsors of PALFA to present her findings at the 13th Biennial Pan-African Literacy For All (PALFA) Conference held in Kenya, Nairobi. With the support of TALLE-RSL and PALFA Conference organisers, Fatmata Bintu Kanu succeeded in travelling and presented her findings on behalf of TALLE-RSL to literacy experts in Africa and Beyond on the Theme: ”Remediating the Global Learning Poverty Crisis Through Innovative Literacy Practice.”
Our Participation in global Literacy was motivated by our inclusive vision of promoting Inclusive Education to make the Education Journey of Basic Education a holistic path for the academic achievement of our Nation and our children. This is to confirm our commitment to supporting the promotion of building the literacy skills of early childhood nursery school pupils and upgrading the capacity of ECD Teachers to optimise sustainable quality learning outcomes. This submission agrees with former US President Obama, noting ”We must invest in Early Childhood Education to ensure that all children have a fair chance to succeed.” This is confirmed by H.E President Bio of Sierra Leone, noting, ”Early Childhood Literacy is the Foundation for All Future Learning. It is Essential for Children’s Success in School and Life”
We thank the #PALFA Leadership and its sponsors for confirming our membership and supporting us to participate in the 2023 Biennial PALFA Conference held in Nairobi, Kenya. We further acknowledge and appreciate the professional role of Fatmata Bintu Kanu for her successful presentation at the PALFA Conference.
We look forward to the support of #MBSSE, #CODE Canada and other eminent education stakeholders in helping us participate in building the foundation of literacy teaching and learning poverty inhibiting the realisation of quality learning outcomes at the Early Childhood Development Schools in Sierra Leone.
