Job Title: District Coordinator – TGEP Sierra Leone
Type: Full Time
Reporting to:        TALLE-RSL Management, TGEP Program Manager, Sierra Leone.
Duration of Contract:       Six (6) Months – July- December 2023
Job Locations: Bonthe, Karene, Port Loko and Western Rural
HQ Location:                      49 Circular Road, Freetown, Sierra Leone

Transforming Girls Education Project (TGEP)

CODE Canada, with its Sierra Leonean national implementing partner- The Association of Language and Literacy Educators-Reading Sierra Leone (TALLE-RSL), is implementing the Transforming Girls Education Project (TGEP) in Sierra Leone. The project aims to dismantle barriers to education for girls while improving the quality of education for girls and boys in selected fragile areas in Sierra Leone.  It will build on and complement former and current projects implemented by CODE, TALLE-RSL and other education stakeholders in the country.

Background

CODE, in Partnership with TALLE-RSL, has actively supported the GoSL-MBSSEs in providing quality literacy outcomes at the primary level over the years.  With the TGEP, we are pleased to be part of the National push for Free Quality Education.  To make this possible, TALLE-RSL management invites applications for School Support Coaches to effectively work within Six (6) Months in conducting the successful implementation process of TGEP in Bonthe, Karene, Port Loko and Western Rural Districts. Women are highly encouraged to apply.

 Applicants MUST be residents of the districts mentioned above, have a driving license, and be skilled in riding a motorcycle.

The District Coordinator must be professionally fit to do the following duties:
Job Description: Performance indicators (not exhaustive) will be assessed and measured on your delivery to:

  • Work with TALLE-RSL Management to coordinate and conduct all TGEP activities in your district.
  • Work with Coaches to ensure continual assessments of the project, especially the quality expected in educational deliverables at the district and school levels.
  •  Maintain regular communication with TALLE-RSL HQ.
  • Supervise School Support Coaches in conducting fieldwork and timely reporting to TALLE-RSL Management.
  • Provide mentorship to COP teachers and facilitators
  • Maintain project materials and assets inventory, such as books, tablets and mobile library devices.
  • Manage sensitive data and information gathered in the field.
  • Perform other duties not listed in the job description, including travelling to areas outside of your duty station, for the team’s overall work to be effective.

 Qualifications

  • Degree in education or advanced degree in the related field.
  • Teaching experience. Preference will be given to candidates with Teacher Training Experience.
  • Training or experiences related to gender-responsive and inclusive education methods.
  • Training experience related to Communities of Practice, Gender Responsive Pedagogy.

 

Skills/Abilities

  • Strong communication abilities: Oral and written.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • A team player; interacts responsively.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Willingness to travel to TALLE-RSL Head Office as and when needed.
